Hidden Coloseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum.

Let me preface the story by saying today was incredibly hot and I left my sunhat behind in the hotel room. I wish I'd gone back for it.
We started out visiting the Colosseum, and our tour additionally visited 2 areas not usually open to the public - the area below the stage where the animals were kept and where the gladiators trained, and an area on the 3rd floor where spectators would have sat.
Our second visit was to the Palatine Hill. It was just how I remember it being last time we visited, hot, dusty, hot, nice views and did I mention HOT?
The 3rd site was the Roman Forum, impressive as ever. We saw the remains of the House of the Vestal Virgins. Did you know that these ladies were required to retain their virginity for 30 years? Those who managed to say "No", became very rich, and those who lapsed were buried alive. Nice.
Anyone guess what song I had stuck in my head after? "A Whiter Shade of Pale" of course!
