Dinner at the Round Table

We are staying at the Hotel Lancelot, which is well known for it's communal "round tables" at dinner. Very corny I know.
Bearing in mind my aversion for sitting at dinner with people I don't know, and Tom's ability to always manage to say the wrong thing, and the fact that last time we tried it we were seated with an american couple who worked as clowns (cue eyeroll), we decided to try it again, possibly because we liked the menu but probably because we were too tired to try and find anywhere else!
This time dinner was served in the garden at rectangular tables, which we took to be a good omen. We were seated with a couple who introduced themselves as
1.Texan (eek, memo to self don't mention politics)
2. In oil (don't mention BP), and
3. Born again Christans
Was someone having a laugh??? We stuck to talking about cruising.
First course was Caprese Salad, which was presented as a partially sliced whole tomato with mozarella and basil tucked into the slots. Yum!
2nd course was chicken cacciatore, chicken pieces slow cooked in white wine and onions and served with sauteed potatoes and grilled peppers.
The final course was rice pudding with peaches, followed by espresso and some sort of digestif.
